The Airplane Radar Watch! The Bell and Ross BR-0392 Red Radar

We recently covered a Caravelle diver that had a really unique seconds hand with a jet plane on the end of it. Ironically, Bell and Ross released a watch with a similar motif - but instead of going to the bottom of the sea, this watch transports you to the cockpit of an airplane. The BR-0392 “Red Radar” has a super unique dial which displays time in a different way.

The square shape of this watch is easily recognizable as a Bell and Ross watch since it was released in 2011. This past week, the company released the BR-0392, nicknamed “Red Radar” which gives a completely new name to a pilot-inspired watch. The watch is 42mm in diameter and has a black ceramic case. The most noticable thing about the watch, the dial, is black and red and has rotating discs that literally look like one of the radars on a plane. It comes on a rubber strap to give it that sporty feel and even has a 100m water resistance, maybe if you have to land on water?

The way the dial works is fairly unique. The movement used is a modified Selitta-SW300-1, and is known as the BR-CAL.302. Bell and Ross added a disc system to the movement so there is a radar hand that goes around the watch for the seconds. There are two planes that are used to display the hour and minute - similar to the Caravelle we mentioned previously. The modifications made are actually quite advanced, and come from a very good base movement. There are only 999 pieces made so this will make it a fairly intriguing limited edition.
