A New Meaning to Skeleton Watch! MB&F HM9 SV, Sapphire Case

MB&F has always been a brand that pushes the limits that are loosely set by watchmaking. Whether it has to do with how time is display or how a case is designed, the boundaries are always pushed. The HM9 was a fabulous example of this - MB&F created a completely new looking watch. Inspired by the cars and planes of the 1940’s and 1950’s, the watch features two balance wheels and a vertical time display. The case itself really looked like the planes and cars of this era, that were built with a focus on aerodynamics.

The original watches came in titanium and gold, and MB&F pushed the boundaries even more with the HM9 SV. The SV has a sapphire and gold case that allows the wearer to see the entire movement. Crazy, and I right? Along with the patented 3D gasket which was the first time a watch company did something like this, the amount of machining for this case to come to life is mind blowing. Max Busser said in an interview that the sapphire that was used in the original HM9 to display the flying balance wheels took 60 hours to create. Imagine what the whole case took!

The HM9 comes in four colours; black, blue, rose gold and our personal favourite, purple and are limited editions to 5 pieces each.

Enjoy!
